Description

There is no luck in this tower. No dice rolls, no misses, no critical hits. Every enemy's strength, every reward, every outcome in Towerbound is fully deterministic — which turns the entire climb into one enormous logic puzzle. And you can solve it.

Towerbound is an independent, modern remake of Tower of the Sorcerer (魔法の塔 / 魔塔). It preserves the original 50-floor layouts and the placement of monsters and items, while updating the pixel art, controls, interface, and language support. Walk into a monster and the outcome is already fixed by your stats and theirs. The challenge is choosing which fights to take, and in which order. HP, attack, defense, and gold are currencies; a poorly timed fight, door, or upgrade can seal your way forward.

Key features

History

Tower of the Sorcerer began as N.W.'s PC-98 game 魔法の塔 and was later ported to Windows by Oz and Kenichi. Towerbound recreates that tower as a modern desktop game with a new visual presentation and full controller support. The original creator's website welcomes derivative works, including related releases on Steam. Towerbound is independently developed and is not presented as an official edition of the original game.

It is developed by Jelte De Proft in Java and LibGDX. Generator scripts draw the game's sprites from a shared pixel-art palette.
